The TAC (Transport Accident Commission) provides financial support to help cover funeral costs, counselling services and support when a family member has died as a result of a transport accident.
The amount of benefits the TAC will pay will depend on your family’s circumstances. You will be required to make a claim which is available online and requires the name of the Funeral Company you have decided to use.
The TAC currently provides reasonable costs for:
- Funeral costs and monument expenses in Australia
- Travel and accommodation expenses for immediate family to attend a funeral
- Counselling for family members
- Payments to a dependent spouse or partner
- Payments to support dependent children
