Advantages of Prepaid Funerals
Provides Peace of Mind
Prepaid funerals are an assurance that aspects of your funeral that are important to you will be carried out the way that you would like.
Makes funerals easier for others
Pre-paying your funeral alleviates the financial burden and many of the decisions associated with arranging a funeral service. Knowing that this has been taken care of lifts some of the emotional strain on family members and significant others.
Paying at today’s prices
Prepaid funerals enable you to lock in a price for a funeral service avoiding the inevitable price increases associated with funeral products and services due to inflation over time.
Protects your Pension
Money paid for our Prepaid Funerals is invested in a Capital Guaranteed Prepaid Funeral Bond. Money invested in Funeral Bonds is eligible for government income and asset test exemptions. Our Prepaid Funerals fall under the value limits that apply.
No ongoing payments
Once a Prepaid Funeral Agreement is in place, there are no further payments required even if the service doesn’t take place for another 30 years. Prepaid Funerals differ from Funeral Insurance Plans which require ongoing premiums.
Planning with and for others
When managing another person’s affairs as Power of Attorney or Guardian, a Prepaid Funeral ensures that you can put in place a plan for their future funeral service. This provides an opportunity to make joint decisions in advance, alleviating some of the decisions when the funeral is required.
Prepaid Funeral Plans: What Are They?
Prepaid Funerals enable you to plan and pay for your funeral service in advance, at today’s prices, providing peace of mind. At the time the funeral is required, all that is agreed upon is provided at no additional cost. This is a practical, caring choice that protects loved ones from financial pressure and difficult decisions at the time a funeral is needed.
Prepaid funerals involve deciding on the type of funeral you would like and letting us know of any specific or unique inclusions. These may be as specific as type of floral sheaf arrangement, music to be played or any important ceremonies to be included in the funeral. All that you would like to be included is then outlined on a Prepaid Funeral Agreement ensuring that they will be provided.
Our professional, caring team are readily available to support you in the planning of the type of funeral you would like, and in understanding the cost, how money paid is invested and the signing of required documentation. We offer appointments to meet with you and carers or family members for in-person assistance at a location convenient to you when preferred.
Prepaid Funerals are held until a funeral is required. While a funeral may not be required for many years, all that is included in the Prepaid Funeral Agreement will be provided at no additional cost.
Prepaid Funerals are not the same as funeral insurance. They do not involve ongoing payment of premiums. Once payment is made for your prepaid funeral, no additional payments are required.
How Prepaid Funerals work
Arranging a Prepaid Funeral begins with us providing information and a discussion about your wishes and preferred service type. Our Prepaid Funerals can be tailored to suit any cultural, religious or personal preferences. We will provide a clear quote of our pricing and information about the KeyInvest Funeral Bond where prepaid money is held. We will readily answer any questions you may have with no obligation to use our service.
Our team offers the opportunity to provide information either by phone, mail, email or during in-person appointments, giving you options and flexibility in how you would like to receive information and organise your prepaid funeral.
When a decision has been made to proceed, we document all that you have requested in a legally compliant contract known as a Prepaid Funeral Agreement, which is signed by both our company and either yourself or your financial representative (Power of Attorney or Guardian). Associated documentation for the government approved, regulated KeyInvest Funeral Bond and any associated prepaid cemetery fees is also signed.

Once payment is made, the majority of the funds is immediately paid into the Funeral Bond and to cemeteries (when applicable). Money invested in the bond remains secure in the name of the person holding the Prepaid Funeral and cannot be released until the funeral service is required. This ensures that your money is safe and your prepaid funeral will be honoured.
You will be provided with your Prepaid Funeral Agreement, a copy of your Funeral Bond document and any pre-purchased cemetery certificates. Prepaid Funeral Agreement cards will be provided to you. These can be kept in your wallet or provided to your next of kin or caregivers for easy reference.

We choose to invest money paid for Prepaid Funerals in Capital Guaranteed Funeral Bonds with KeyInvest (formerly Australian Friendly Society). For information regarding their funeral bonds visit their website using the link below:
