The Ode

‘They shall grow not old,

As we that are left grow old,

Age shall not weary them,

Nor the years condemn,

At the going down of the sun,

And in the morning,

We will remember them.

All : ‘We will remember them.

The Last Post

‘Lest we Forget’

All: ‘Lest we forget’.

Assistance from the Department of Veteran’s Affairs (DVA)

The Department of Veteran’s Affairs offers bereavement payments and assistance with funeral costs for eligible Veterans .

Bereavement payments are once-off payments to assist with any additional costs following the death of eligible veterans. One type of bereavement payment aims to help partners of veterans to adjust their finances after the deceased veteran’s DVA payments stop. The other type of bereavement payment is made in relation to a veteran who has received an Income Support Payment.

Funeral Benefit is a one-off payment, up to a maximum of $2,000, to assist with the funeral costs of an eligible veteran.

The costs covered by a funeral benefit may include:

  • wakes
  • memorial ceremonies or similar observances
  • costs associated with burial, cremation or other legal means of disposal
  • transporting the veteran’s body from the place of death.

If a veteran is eligible for a funeral benefit, payment can be made directly to the funeral director.

Our Funeral Consultants can assist by providing relevant printed information and a claim form.

Official Commemoration
